GFRC
Cast over a mold and built up in thin layers, glass fiber reinforced concrete carries its loads through alkali-resistant (AR) glass fibers dispersed throughout the cementitious matrix rather than through embedded steel. That construction yields a thin-shell panel with a high strength-to-weight ratio, so a facade element can take the form of a large flat sheet or an intricate molded profile while weighing only a fraction of solid precast of the same dimensions.
Why specify GFRC
Because the panels are dramatically lighter than conventional precast, they reduce the dead load carried by a building's structure and foundations and lower the seismic mass that drives lateral design in California. Lighter elements are also simpler and safer to handle, transport, and set, which can shorten erection schedules and ease crane and rigging demands on constrained urban sites.
